John Bonington, Visual Artist
The Scottish Artist John Bonington
John Bonington is originally from Edinburgh but is now based in Kingskettle,
North East Fife. He studied sculpture and painting in Dundee, Edinburgh,
Italy and Poland. His training was very much in the tradition of European
art with figurative work to the fore and an emphasis on form and line.
After art training he worked as a foundry man, printer, teacher, and later
as training consultant, manager, and now as full-time artist again.
John Bonington's sculptures and paintings are influenced by the Scottish countryside,
the local weather and its effects - including the rain! Outdoor sculpture
in Scotland has the opportunity to use the weather effects including
the light and rain. The work shown here is a mix of figurative and abstract
pieces, plus some paintings and photographs.
